In the spirit of keeping Halloween around a little longer and for those who like to be scared, I compiled a list of creepy pasta’s to give you a little scare. So get your fluffiest blanket, turn out the lights and read enjoy these stories!
- Squidward’s Suicide:
This creepy pasta has been featured on many lists of creepy pasta scary stories and for good reason. It’s simple that it is absolutely believable, it’s easy to follow and the scare factor has such a huge pay-off for such a basic idea. The title pretty much says what it is about, but for non-nickelodeon fans, Squidward is a character on the cartoon, Spongebob Squarepants. The story is about an intern who works at Nickelodeon studios. Give it a read if you want to put a dark spin on a children’s TV show!
- Dark Radio:
I think this story interested me so much because a family member had told me a similar story as a kid and I remember it scaring me and giving me nightmares. The story is about a radio station and a man hell bent on finding answers, there’s an interesting twist at the end too!
This creepy pasta is about a ghost hunter on a job to rid a house of it’s paranormal entity. It’s definitely worth a read if you like a story with a good narrative and a, didn’t see that coming ending. It’s scary though; don’t say I didn’t warn you.
- The Subway Ride:
Again I’ve heard of this actually happening before and it’s so creepy because of how real it feels. It’s short and frightening, reading it I felt like it was a friend recounting their story to me. The title pretty much sums it up, this is a story of someone’s subway ride, but honestly, it’s far from a typical commute.
- The Old Lady:
I’m a firm believer that to be scary a story doesn’t need to be long and filled with details, it’s more important that it’s believable, which is exactly what this story is! The scariest thing about it is that it could happen to any of us on any given day.
- Everything Will Be Okay:
Slightly different from the other stories, this one had to make you think a little bit, with a little bit of imagination this story could make a really great movie about a guy struggling with sleep walking. As someone who suffers from sleepwalking, I can say that there’s nothing more frightening than waking up in a different place from where you fell asleep, particularly if you’ve got a reputation for doing things in your sleep. The scary part is not knowing what you did. Give it a read and see if it gives you the creeps too.
- Forest of Suicides:
This story is about the Forest of Suicides (actually a real place) and a man who wanders the grounds. It’s actually quite an interesting tale that brings forth your fear of darkness and uncertainty.
- Underneath Reality:
I would say this one reminded me of the movie The Number 23, I feel like as I was reading it, it was being told to me in the same style that movie was shot. There’s this dark desperation that makes you shiver and it’s so interesting that it’s creepy. Like at the end there’s this sudden realization you have about the character and its meaning. No spoilers just have a read and you’ll see what I mean.
- The Russian Sleep Experiment:
Ok, so I studied psychology in College and I was obsessed with sleep experiments. This story is about a ‘Russian sleep experiment’ that may or may not have happened. The story is believable which if you’ve gotten this far, you’ll know is something I found extremely important with scary stories. It’s an interesting read, which has deeper, meaning than what the story tells. Have a read and see if you can guess what the underlying point of the story is. 10 points for Gryffindor if you get it.
- What Haunts The Fields:
This story is about a 17-year-old hitchhiker who is picked up by a kind stranger who tells him a scary story about the field. I was gripped by this story and it’s characters and will guarantee you a good scaring if you’re like me and are scared of walking in a dark field at night.
